COVID Precautions

When in Tanzania, standard International WHO protocols should be followed.

It is recommended that you are fully vaccinated, wear masks in public places, sanitise/wash hands regularly.

According to ongoing research, there have been very few cases of proven Covid infections while participating in outdoor sporting / mass participation events worldwide.

At a Marathon, when you are at the ‘Start’, and in the finish lanes, ie when you are in closer than normal proximity to others for a short time, we recommend you wear a mask which you can easily carry during the race. All frontline staff at water-points and in the finish lanes will be masked as well as our staff at number collection points. Hand sanitising stations will be available at the finish stadium.

It is up to the individual athlete to be aware of these standard event protocols.

At the start, we would like athletes to ‘self-seed’ according to their speed. Elite athletes at the front, fast in the middle area / medium and then slow. Please be respectful of professional athletes – and allow them to start at the front of the line-up.
