Children’s cancer charity caring for children with cancer in Tanzania
We invite and urge you to make your Kilimanjaro Marathon 2025 event experience even more meaningful by doing something truly powerful. Together, let’s make every step count and bring hope to families and children in Tanzania facing a cancer diagnosis. Get involved in the following ways:
Together we in Tanzania can dream big – together let’s offer EVERY SINGLE CHILD the support they need. Together we can!
At the Kilimanjaro Marathon, we are proud to see so many of our runners go beyond the personal challenge of the race and use their efforts to support meaningful causes. One such runner is Bongozozo, a well-known Tanzanian influencer and passionate marathoner, who returned to the course in February 2025 for his 6th Kilimanjaro Marathon.
But this time, as with the year before, Bongozozo wasn’t just chasing a finish time—he was running for something far greater. He dedicated his race to Tumaini La Maisha, a Tanzanian-based organisation that provides free, life-saving cancer treatment to children across the country.
Through his platform and presence on race day, Bongozozo raised awareness for the ongoing fight against childhood cancer and encouraged others to get involved. His energy, dedication, and heartfelt message reminded us that this event is not just about kilometers run—it’s about hope carried forward with every step.
“Every kilometre was for hope, every step for the children,” he shared.
“I run because I believe every child deserves a chance at life—and Tumaini La Maisha is making that possible.”

If you’ve ever wondered whether running can make a difference—this is proof that it can.
Who would like to save a child’s life while racing in the Kilimanjaro Marathon 2025?
Did you know that childhood cancer is curable when diagnosed early? 85% of kids with cancer in resource rich settings are fully cured. Tumaini La Maisha has been working across Tanzania for 13 years supporting hospitals (including KCMC), providing chemotherapy, nutrition, supportive medications, diagnostics and other childhood cancer services free of charge to all children in need.
Tanzania’s children’s cancer care story began with the treatment of just 100 children in 2005, when survival rates barely reached 10%. Fast forward to 2023, TLM supported over 1,000 new patients with survival rates now reaching to 50%. Learn more about our efforts on our website www.wearetlm.org
While these achievements are indeed noteworthy, there’s still so much ground to cover on our path to reach every child in need and continue to close the cure gap. There are so many children who tragically die before they reach the care they need and deserve.
TLM is committed to reaching every single child – but we need your support to do this – small donations from many donors can make a massive impact to this urgent need – can you help us spread childhood cancer care across Tanzania?
