2024 Route Maps

The 2024 Kilimanjaro International Marathon will start at 06h30 in the stadium, and will tackle the uphill first – eg up towards the mountain – before coming back down and through Moshi to turn out on the road to the TPC Sugar.  The route is similar to the HALF marathon, until approximately 19km mark, where the full marathon breaks away and does a loop down through Moshi town.  Please look for the MARKERS ON RACE DAY and listen to the marshalls.

This allows the marathon runners (42k) to complete the ‘up-hill’ in the first part of the race, in the cool of the morning on fresh legs !  It should also mean less congestion for both events on the small dirt road section between 8 and 10 km.

Updated route maps, measured by World Athletics standards, can be found below.

Full Marathon Route

The 2024 Kilimanjaro International Marathon will start at 0630 in the MoCU Stadium. The route goes uphill first (towards the mountain) with approximately 290m altitude gain in 8km, before coming back down and through Moshi to turn out on the road to the TPC Sugar.

The route is the same as the HALF marathon up until about the 19 km mark, where the FULL then does a loop through Moshi Town. This will allow the Full Runners to get this section done in the cool of the morning.
